Strengthening International Bonds: Visit of National Defence University of Pakistan Delegation to IUS

On the 10th of May 2024, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) welcomed a delegation from the National Defence University of Pakistan (NDU). Led by Air Commodore Amir Munir, the 14-member delegation arrived at IUS with a mission to foster cooperation and understanding between Pakistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The delegation received a warm reception from the Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, the Director of the Balkans Studies Centre (BSC), Assist. Prof. Dr. Hamza Preljević, and University Communications Office Manager, Ms. Velida Handžić-Mirica.

The visit commenced with a presentation by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, who introduced the delegation to the diverse academic pursuits and activities of IUS. Expressing hope for future cooperation, the Rector emphasized the importance of forging strong ties between educational institutions across borders.

The second part of the program focused on a presentation by the IUS Balkans Studies Centre, shedding light on the socio-political landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Led by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hamza Preljević, the briefing provided valuable insights into the challenges facing the nation. Joined by professors from the Political Science and International Relations study program, including Prof. Dr. Muhidin Mulalić, Assistant Prof. Dr. Jahja Muhasilović, and Assistant Prof. Dr. Mustafa Krupalija, the discussion focused on the complexities of Bosnia and Herzegovina's political situation and explored future perspectives.

Both delegations engaged in lively discussions, exchanging views and experiences to enhance mutual understanding. The event served as a platform for building bridges between academia and diplomacy, paving the way for future collaborations and partnerships.
