Another module of lectures at the Balkan Youth School was held by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Joseph J. Kaminski from the International University of Sarajevo on 19 April 2020. Professor Kaminski is the Department Chair of the International Relations Department and taught a module titled: "Understanding current events through the IR disciplinary paradigm."
During the seminar students had the opportunity to learn some of the basic definitions, technical terms, and theoretical paradigms that are commonly used within the International Relations discipline. The 2nd half of the module allowed for interactive discussion on multiple relevant topics that are transforming the contemporary global political landscape such as the on-going war in Syria and new refugee crisis, the effect of Donald Trump on global politics, and the role that the recent COVID-19 virus epidemic has played in transforming commonly held notions of global security and economic order.
The Balkan Youth School is an educational platform in the humanities, social and religious sciences. The study program is organized through modules, providing basic knowledge of history, human rights, international relations, political theories and issues, socio-political and religious issues, Ottoman history, arts and architecture, genocide studies, leadership and political thought.
The project is being implemented by the Balkan Studies Center of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and supported by The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB).
