Preservation of the Ottoman Architecture in the Balkans

Within the Center for Balkan Studies at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), Prof. Dr. Amir Pašić gave a lecture in the large amphitheater of IUS, entitled '' Preservation of Ottoman Architecture in the Balkans '' on Thursday, December 18, 2014. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Çaksu, Coordinator of the Center for Balkan Studies welcomed the guests, professors and students emphasizing that this lecture is the first one, in a series of lectures to come.

The lecturer presented many of his works and projects, as well as his most recent one, namely the rebuilding of Aladža mosque, one of the most monumental Waqf and religious temples of the Ottoman architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As coordinator of the IRCICA for BiH, Pašić began a feasibility study during the year of 1993 for the reconstruction of the Old Bridge in Mostar. Since 2009 he is appointed as the Head of the Department of History and Theory of Architecture and Preservation of Architectural Heritage. He is also the head of the Department of Architecture of the Center for Research of Islamic History, Art and Culture in Istanbul (IRCICA- Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture). Throughout his career, Prof. Pašić taught at University of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period between (1982-1991) and (2000-2008), the Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul (from 1993 to 2001) and Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul (from 1993 to 1996).
