Balkan Studies Center is pleased to announce that the Balkan Youth School (BYS) has been successfully completed.
Another module of lectures - book club - at the Balkan Youth School was held on 9 July 2020 by Prof. Dr. Lejla Turcilo from the Faculty of Political Science, University of Sarajevo. Professor Turcilo, whose specialization and area of interest is in media theories, online communication, media literacy and media freedom, is also the Head of Department of Journalism at the University of Sarajevo. Professor Turcilo delivered a module titled "Politics, Media and Youth in the Western Balkans" based on her book "Zaradi pa vladaj: Politika-mediji-biznis u globalnom društvu i u Bosni i Hercegovini".
On June 24, 2020, Assist. Prof. Dr. Selvira Draganović from the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), held a seminar “Psychosocial challenges for the future of marriage, family and community in Bosnia and Herzegovina” as a part of the Balkan Youth School (BYS). This seminar started with an introduction into local and World number of divorces, which served as rationale for "challenges" and then explanation of the basic terminology like, marriage, family, healthy and functional and unhealthy and dysfunctional family, marital (in)stability and quality and theories of marital stability and quality.
On May 7, 2020, H.E. Haldun Koç, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina, held a seminar “New public diplomacy-foreign policy with humanitarian aspect: Turkey's soft power role in the Balkans/Special case Bosnia and Herzegovina” as a part of the Balkan Youth School (BYS).
Another module of lectures at the Balkan Youth School was held by Professor Elif Nuroğlu from the Turkish-German University (TAU, Istanbul) on 2 May 2020.
Another module of lectures at the Balkan Youth School was held by Assist. Prof. Dr. Laura Kromják from the Tomori Pál College Budapest on 26 April 2020. Professor Kromják, whose specialization is in diaspora and identity politics, memory, and trauma discourse of Bosnian and Herzegovinian refugees now living in the U.S., is also a commissioner for Western Balkan Academic Cooperation at Tomori Pál College facilitating capacity-building projects. Professor Kromják delivered a set of lectures titled: “Migration and Diaspora in the Balkans: Trends and Challenges”.
Another module of lectures at the Balkan Youth School was held by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Joseph J. Kaminski from the International University of Sarajevo on 19 April 2020. Professor Kaminski is the Department Chair of the International Relations Department and taught a module titled: "Understanding current events through the IR disciplinary paradigm."
Respecting the decisions of state authorities regarding the implementation of measures to prevent the spread of corona virus (COVID-19), the Balkan Youth School (BSY) has successfully continued its activities online. On Sunday, 12 April 2020, the Balkan Youth School had a great privilege to host a distinguished Professor Benjamin Moore from Fontbonne University, USA.
Poštujući odluke nadležnih organa o sprovođenju mjera prevencije širenja korona virusa (COVID-19), Centar za balkanske studije (BSC) Internacionalnog univerziteta u Sarajevu (IUS) uspješno je organizovao online seminar u sklopu Balkanske škole za mlade (BYS).
