On May 7, 2020, H.E. Haldun Koç, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina, held a seminar “New public diplomacy-foreign policy with humanitarian aspect: Turkey's soft power role in the Balkans/Special case Bosnia and Herzegovina” as a part of the Balkan Youth School (BYS).
Another module of lectures at the Balkan Youth School was held by Assist. Prof. Dr. Laura Kromják from the Tomori Pál College Budapest on 26 April 2020. Professor Kromják, whose specialization is in diaspora and identity politics, memory, and trauma discourse of Bosnian and Herzegovinian refugees now living in the U.S., is also a commissioner for Western Balkan Academic Cooperation at Tomori Pál College facilitating capacity-building projects. Professor Kromják delivered a set of lectures titled: “Migration and Diaspora in the Balkans: Trends and Challenges”.
Another module of lectures at the Balkan Youth School was held by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Joseph J. Kaminski from the International University of Sarajevo on 19 April 2020. Professor Kaminski is the Department Chair of the International Relations Department and taught a module titled: "Understanding current events through the IR disciplinary paradigm."
Respecting the decisions of state authorities regarding the implementation of measures to prevent the spread of corona virus (COVID-19), the Balkan Youth School (BSY) has successfully continued its activities online. On Sunday, 12 April 2020, the Balkan Youth School had a great privilege to host a distinguished Professor Benjamin Moore from Fontbonne University, USA.
Poštujući odluke nadležnih organa o sprovođenju mjera prevencije širenja korona virusa (COVID-19), Centar za balkanske studije (BSC) Internacionalnog univerziteta u Sarajevu (IUS) uspješno je organizovao online seminar u sklopu Balkanske škole za mlade (BYS).
After the opening ceremony on Saturday, March 7, 2020, the Balkan Youth School has officially launched its activities with the first set of lectures for the participants. The first module of the lectures at the Balkan Youth School was held by Assist. Prof. Dr. Enis Omerović from the University of Zenica, Faculty of Law. Professor Omerović, whose specialization is in the field of international law and criminal law, delivered the set of lectures on the subject: ‘‘Freedom of expression and hate speech: state’s response".
Balkan Studies Centre (BSC) of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) opened the Balkan Youth School, on Saturday, March 7th, 2020.
The ceremony was opened by our distinguished guests Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Rector of the International University of Sarajevo, HE Haldun Koc, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to BiH, and Mr. Murat Kazanci, Head of the Department for Social and Cultural Affairs.
