IUS and Turkish Maarif Foundation Explore Opportunities for Stronger Academic Collaboration

On Monday, April 20, 2026, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) welcomed a delegation from Turkish Maarif Foundation for a meeting focused on strengthening academic cooperation and exploring future opportunities for collaboration.

The delegation comprised Assoc. Prof. Dr. Öner Buçukçu, Research Center Coordinator at the Maarif Foundation, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersin Adıgüzel, Head of the Department of Academic Activities and Publications at the Maarif Foundation.

The guests were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, Rector of the International University of Sarajevo, Dr. Adnan Shaban Mestan, Director of the IUS Balkan Studies Center (BSC), and Asst. Prof. Dr. Hamza Preljević from the Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) study program. 

The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, with discussions centered on the development of academic cooperation between Turkish Maarif Foundation and IUS. The participants exchanged views on potential areas of joint engagement, emphasizing the importance of building stronger institutional ties through academic initiatives, knowledge exchange, and future collaborative activities. 

This visit reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to fostering meaningful partnerships in higher education and creating new opportunities for academic dialogue and cooperation. It also highlights the continuing efforts of IUS to strengthen its international connections and expand collaboration with respected institutions and organizations from Türkiye.

Through such meetings, IUS continues to reaffirm its openness to partnerships that contribute to academic excellence, internationalization, and the advancement of educational and research initiatives.
